Sorry for your loss πŸ’•

Appreciate the additional time in sharing your personal process; it’s helpful for burgeoning amateur painters. Also appreciate the shot including your studio supervisor, who seems pleased with your work.

Hi Bryn, Thanks so much for your kind condolences. Grateful to have my art practice as comfort. xx

I am so happy that sharing my process is helpful! Great to know for future posts. And lol little Miss Mocha really likes to be an onlooker, her sister on the other hand likes to be in the middle of things.

I appreciate your comment and taking the time to read my post! Wishing you art filled days ahead!

Debbie, I think you could be a writer, as well as a wonderful artist/painter, I love your 'helpful note' of July 12th made me feel like I was right there with you, such a beautiful expression of your impressions. I've read it several times and it really invokes a peaceful feeling; it will be a keeper for me. It's sort of like the old saying to "stop and smell the roses".

What a beautiful, thoughtful comment Wilma! Thank you so much for adding a skip to my step. I am so happy my little note resonated with you.

One thing I love about being on location is how present you feel. One of my wishes is that my sharing can make others feel like they are right there with me, so I'm very happy to hear you felt that way!

I truly believe acknowledgement of small moments bring continued joy as opposed to large moments that are far apart. Hoping you experience lots of those joyful moments in the coming month! Thanks for sharing! xx

Oh Debbie, I'm so sorry for your loss.

Thank you for this beautiful post - I have thoroughly enjoyed reading - and seeing! - your artistic process. I had a bit of a moment yesterday - for a long time I have hesitated to go OUT to make art, but I found myself in front of something beautiful yesterday and thought 'NOW is the time'. I couldn't overthink it (my biggest problem with even STARTING something), because I only had a passport-sized notebook to hand - with thin paper, unhelpful - and a very small range of media, but I found myself liberated and creatively inspired, and with a smidgen of confidence which I didn't know I had.

It is in no small part due to reading and viewing the words and work of artists such as you that I am finding the confidence to do something that has long been a desire of mine: to get OUT THERE to make art. Thank you, Debbie. Sending every good wish at this difficult time. 😘

Warm thanks for your kind condolences Rebecca. Grief is definitely not linear--time and acceptance does help. xx

Thank you so much for your beautiful and insightful comment! I truly appreciated all your kind words, thoughts and story. I totally understand that over thinking can just be a nasty little diversion to actually getting started. Resistance with creatives is so "real"! One of my favorite books is The War of Art by Steven Pressfield. He discusses resistance soooo well. Really calls it out!

I am sooo happy you broke that resistance and ended up creating in nature. Once you get hooked creating from life outside, it really gets addictive. That immersive experience is just so good for the soul! It is one of the places I find the most peace and where I truly stay in the moment for a period of time.

And I agree, we artists must stick together---as a community we inspire and push each other into beautiful forms of expressions. Akin to the expression "On the shoulder of giants". Cheering you on to venture out on many more plein air adventures! Taking a little snack along is also relaxing and feels leisurely. I love your artwork Rebecca--you are a wonderful artist.

Sorry I've missed so many of your lovely posts..always enjoyed reading them. I am looking forward to reading future ones as I slowly come back to my online platforms. Happy creating my friend!! xx

Oh wow, 'The War of Art' - I shall have to seek it out. Thanks, Debbie!

It's lovely to see you posting here again. I've got a little behind because I've been away, so I'm treating myself to a bit of a catch-up this morning. Now that I'm home I'm going to harness the enjoyment I had got out of painting outside and do it some more!

I think you would really enjoy The War of Art! It has been a fav for years --when I first read it I had lots of aha moments. I find when I dip back into it, I still have reignited aha moments. Let me know what you think if you journey into it!

Woohoo for painting outside---hope you were able to step back into nature's studio! And thank you so much for your kind welcome back! So nice connecting with you again Rebecca and this lovely community. Always so inspiring! xx
