Adding a written narrative to the painting experience is a great idea. I can see how reading your thoughts at a future date could be so helpful in moving through a series and beyond.

Thanks so much Nicky! Yes the combination of writing and painting evolved naturally when I started working on location. I find it really helpful in deepening my memory and feelings about the actual experience which is so important to my process when working on new work/series. xx

Such a beautiful and thought-provoking post, Debbie - I love how you've combined art and words like this within a whole experience, as it were. I've got some time planned for getting started on my next art project today, and I'm going to bear this post in mind! I shan't be outside today - for one thing it's already pouring with rain at 7am when I'm writing this! - but gosh, the next time I get out there I'll have both sketchbook and notebook at the ready!

Warm Thanks Rebecca! I'm excited for you to both sketch and write on your next outing! I hope your art project went smoothly and you stayed cozy on that rainy day. Will you be posting about your art project in one of your stories? xx

Thanks, Debbie! I'll keep you posted! I'm pleased that I've made a start on my latest project - as usual it's turning out to be very different than I'd expected. In fact it's more of a sketchbook-style spread this time, actually influenced by your nature journalling! It's for the next post in my 'Art and Treasures' series next Saturday (well, at least I hope so - I'm a little behind!). 😊
