This season I promised myself I would work more frequently on location like I had past years. One of the aspects I missed about working on location was the act of writing and recording my impressions after I finished a piece of work. There is something very cathartic about journaling one's thoughts while in nature. Often times I have revelations about life or the reasons why I was attracted to my subject. I'm curious, do you journal --is it helpful--do you find unexpected answers to questions etc.
My written reflection---written on location in Centredale, Nova Scotia at approximately 4:30pm
Blueberry Hills
The clouds have morphed into a multitude of shapes since I arrived. I have found a sheltered alcove on top of blueberry fields to capture today's view. A gentle breeze flows intermittently, as rustlings announce that I am not alone. Birdsong serves as added company as a state of flow prevails.
Living in the present, I get lost in capturing elusive clouds. I have to work without hesitation as the weather is changing, becoming colder with a cloud haze that obliterates areas of blue. It is in these moments that I feel the distractions of life fall away only to be replaced with a sense of ease and calm.
